As hyaluronic acid dermal filler procedures become increasingly popular, healthcare professionals should also be developing an awareness of their complications and how to manage them. This case report documents the first reported case of avascular necrosis of the gingiva and mandibular alveolar bone, following chin augmentation with hyaluronic acid dermal filler. The mechanism of injury, relevant anatomy, risk factors and management implications of this case are discussed.
